My Top 10 “Summertime” Gifts for “Me”

1. MP3 Player Updates…I’m so stuck in the 1990’s with my MP3 music. It’s time to get some tunes that update my groove. It’s refreshing to sing a new song that’s on the radio while I’m driving…I’m even getting good at rapping…Update your tunes and…you go girl/…guy!!!

2. A New Summer Drink with Glasses… Watch a new summer movie and you’re bound to find a cool new drink that entices you. Go on-line and find out how to make it, then go out and get the ingredients. Try it out and if you like it, make sure you also get the right glasses so you can share the true experience with a friend. I’ll have mine shakened, not stirred.

3. Workin Out at the Car Wash…Forget the Gym. Washing my car is a great workout. Everyone that lives in my court is over 80 so I try not to wear short shorts or I might have to give some CPR. I splurge on the Tire Shine, Car Wash Shampoo, and Freshener. Get some exercise, pimp your ride and head out for a Sunday drive…that’s what Summer’s all about!

4. Backyard Oasis… Candles, umbrellas, pillows and that romantic little extra…bug repellent… Oh well, back to reality…Whether you have an apartment balcony, or a 30 acre farm make a spot and make it your summertime retreat. You’ll be so glad you did. Also don’t forget to do a little star-gazing at night, this is a 24 hour get-away, make the most of it.

5. Games of Golf…What a great sport to enjoy in the summer. But if you’re a novice like me, start the game early in the morning or later in the afternoon, that way you can relax and not have a super-pro foursome behind you getting “T”’d off because you take it a little slower.

6. BBQ Stuff…I’ve gotta have the old-fashioned coals for my BBQ…It’s such a summertime taste. I also get the necessary mesquite, sauces and fresh herbs to make it a special meal. Try out something new like a pizza or pineapple chunks charcoal grilled and make up some new summertime experiences.

7. Vitamin D… It’s free and it’s sunshine. Did you know that we really need a little sun? Now I’m no doctor, but lying in the sun with a zinked up face and a SPF45 is not for me. My style is to put on a lower sunscreen and limit my tanning bed in the fresh outdoors to just 15 minutes, but once a week. It gives me a healthy glow and a bit of sunshine-Vitamin D-health as well.

8. Hot Clothes…Now I’m not advocating looking like a teenager but now’s the time to look “hot”. Skirts, dresses and shorts are the way to go especially around the house. Put aside the dowdy T-shirts and pretend your home is a resort. Dress like you’re down in the Tropics and see how much better you feel.

9. Bike Rides… Pack a lunch, throw it in a knapsack grab your significant other and take a bike tour. It’s so much fun and great exercise. Find a shady spot along the way and enjoy cheese, crackers, pate, dips and veggies or whatever else you fancy. Don’t forget to get a bike rack for your car and you can go on an economical mini vacation every weekend!

10. Get a Good Book…There’s nothing like a good read to force you to relax. Get a book that you just can’t put down, go out to your backyard oasis, sip a new summer drink and enjoy! It’s summer after all and you have only so many of them. Wishing you lots sunny days, Heather Hyde www.onlineshoppingmallamerica.com
